The UCLA women’s volleyball team broke its two game losing
streak on Friday with a 3-2 win over the Golden Bears of Cal. But
the win streak was short lived as Stanford defeated the Bruins on
Saturday night.

UCLA pulled out a come-from-behind victory to defeat Cal 12-15,
13-15, 15-12, 17-15, 15-12. Down two games to none, the Bruins
preserved their undefeated record against Cal (now 29-0) by winning
games three and four to force the rally-point fifth game.

With the momentum from the match against Cal, UCLA took the lead
early against the Cardinal. However, the Bruins couldn’t hold on as
Stanford handed UCLA its fourth loss in the Pacific 10 by the score
of 10-15, 15-8, 15-12, 15-7.

The Cardinal had five hitters record 13 kills or more. Freshman
Kerri Walsh led the team with a triple double, recording 28 kills,
13 digs, and 10 blocks in her first ever match against UCLA.

The Bruins drop to 5-4 while Stanford remains undefeated in
conference play at 9-0.
