Who’s afraid of the big, bad Democrat?

Who’s afraid of the big, bad Democrat?

Beware of friendly liberals, embrace Republicans on trip through
electoral forest

While many students on the UCLA campus contemplate their choice
of candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, the topic of
political parties may enter their minds. In these United States,
there exist two primary political parties, the Democrats and the
Republicans.

Traditionally, the Democrats have represented the liberal
left-wing view. A view which, in the recent past, centered around
social welfare, education and civil rights. Along with these
issues, the Democratic Party has made a national pastime, if you
will, of another issue: the propagation of scaring the
Republicans.

The Republican Party’s typical strengths revolve around support
of this great nation’s armed forces, the resurgence of "family
values" and a perpetuation of U.S. economic expansion.

However, in recent years, due to an upshot of particular issues
located within the traditionally democratic arena, the Republicans
have been the victims of unfavorable press and liberal attempts to
discredit conservatives via "scare tactics."

Many liberals prefer to convince this nation’s millions that
conservatives are evil, Republicans are money-grubbing liars, and
those who support abortion rights issues, military funding and
Christian values are the economic elite seeking to corrupt the
masses.

I, for one, say those tactics will no longer pass for illicit
truths among the wiser American public. Republicans are not just
those citizens in a higher tax bracket. Conservatives do not seek
to rob people of their innate human rights. Yet, if you, the
constituents, realized this, the democratic hold on you and the
power of unwarranted fear would no longer be within the liberal
grasp.

Republicans, however, do have certain flaws. I will admit freely
that the GOP is not angelically perfect. Their greatest sin in the
world of politics is simply that they do not play the media game as
well as the Democrats; they do not cater to the microphone and
camera with the same photogenic quality as do their
counterparts.

Democrats place the politically correct masks of popularity upon
their heads and claim to sincerely support the people’s ideals.
Their wishy-washy style of politics, which call for trendy, popular
topics, created the sympathetic and caring image of the Democratic
Party. It is almost as if they said, "It’s OK, we’ll be your
friends because those nasty Republicans are baaaaaad!! Don’t be
friends with them; they’re mean."

Unfortunately, many Americans bought into this false sympathy
and ran from anything that resembled a pachyderm. But what of their
real feelings? When liberals turn to one interest group and smile
with nodding heads, and then turn to the opposition and respond in
the like, how does anything get done?

The answer is that nothing gets done. Democrats try to give
every little extreme faction their every wish, and take care of
everyone’s problems. And as idealistically respectable as that is,
nothing is ever accomplished by a politician more concerned with
making friends than with solving problems.

Republicans have been harassed and butchered in the media
because they take a stand and do not simply smile and nod to their
constituents. Conservative hard-liners may be extreme in their
views, but are no more ludicrous than left-wing liberals calling
for a Disneyland society where free E-tickets are handed out in the
wonderful world of Fantasyland.

We live in an imperfect world, which demands addressing problems
in a realistic fashion. Republicans gained my respect because they
take a stand on issues they believe in and don’t treat the
governing of a nation like a high school popularity contest.

The people of America have finally responded in support of this
stance against the politically correct tidal wave. The Republican
majority in Congress reflects the quiet revitalization of
moderately conservative views. The people are tired of
saxophone-playing presidents full of hot air.

The conservative majority will continue to remain relatively
silent because loud noise-making, traffic-stopping protests are not
their weapons. Voting in elections, silent retribution and unspoken
support are the trademarks of conservatives. This is why Rush
Limbaugh scares so many liberals. Limbaugh presents a vocal aspect
of the conservative majority. His voice is the loud call in
response to the incessant chants of fanatic left-wing
supporters.

Democrats would much rather every conservative was silenced and
the truth was not revealed that Republicans are not the
draft-dodging, savings and loan embezzling, real estate frauds that
some liberals are.

Perhaps it is time, however, that the silent conservative
majority be silent no longer. Speak up! Let it be known to your
fellow countrymen and women that you are no longer scared. Stand up
and tear off the ridiculous labels placed upon your mouths by the
democratic propaganda. Take a stand and be respected; you will not
be alone!

Thunder

They told you to hide your children and run in speedy
fright,

They showed you visions of turmoil and disgusting little
sights,

They smiled and lent a shoulder to make your burden light,

They said I’ll be your friend and make it all alright,

But something shook the ground and scared the little ass,

Something with the force of truth, and a lot of mass,

The donkey seemed to be confused and taken all aghast,

By the sight of the regal beast; a sight that’d be his last,

The creature spoke a word in order just to greet,

Why do you never speak or with us ever meet,

The beast just smiled and said, whilst upon the donkey’s head he
beat,

I never speak in lies but with the thunder of my feet.
