May 14, 2024 6:43 p.m.Cultural Affairs Commission cancels events through end of academic year
The Cultural Affairs Commission announced it was canceling its events for the rest of the academic year.
The Undergraduate Students Association Council office, led by Cultural Affairs Commissioner Alicia Verdugo, released a statement on Instagram Monday morning, citing the violence in Palestine, Congo, Haiti and Sudan, as well as “white supremacist attacks and police brutality” participants of the UCLA Palestine solidarity encampment faced, as the reasons for canceling the events.

The USA Elections Board temporarily suspended general representative candidate Vikas Sundar’s campaign Tuesday morning.
Sundar, a second-year statistics and data science student, is running to be one of three general representatives who will be elected via a multimember, ranked-choice voting system.

Several candidates for the upcoming Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) elections participated in the ongoing Gaza solidarity encampment in Dickson Plaza.
The encampment – organized by the UC Divest Coalition and Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA – began Thursday morning and continued throughout Friday.
