Quarterback
Kansas State: Two-year starter Jake Waters improved upon his 2013 campaign with a solid senior season this year. Waters completed 66.2 percent of his passes, throwing for 3,163 yards and 20 touchdowns to just six interceptions en route to earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.
Prior to each UCLA football game, the Daily Bruin football beat writers will predict the score and give a short reasoning behind their predictions.
To keep track of how far off each writer’s predictions are from reality, the “prediction differential” statistic shows the average difference between the writer’s predicted margin of victory and the actual margin of victory in each game.
Three hats and a future were laid out before Jordan Payton.
The then-high school senior stood in front of cameras at the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, behind a table on which three hats were placed, each bearing the logo of the three schools to which Payton had narrowed his selection down.
River Walk
A five-mile pedestrian-only walkway that runs parallel to the San Antonio River, the River Walk offers not just a beautiful view of the water, surrounding trees and architecture, but also a vein through the cultural hub of the city.
Offensive MVP: Paul Perkins
Coming into the season, redshirt junior Brett Hundley was billed as a potential Heisman candidate. As it turns out, he wasn’t even the best offensive player on his own team this season.
“I want to be somebody. I want to have people look back on it later and say, ‘He did something while he was here and he made a statement, he made a history.’ I want to leave a legacy.”
Those were the words spoken by quarterback Brett Hundley prior to his redshirt freshman season when he took over as UCLA’s starter.
Brett Hundley has become one of UCLA’s best quarterbacks of all time over the past three years, as he has led the Bruins to three straight seasons of nine wins or more after the program only had one such season in the 10-year span prior to Hundley’s playing career.
