Q&A: Blogger Bobby Knight talks NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament

The 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Tournament is underway, with the round of 16 set to begin Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. No. 3-seed UCLA takes on Stanford after defeating Weber State and University of San Diego in the first two rounds, so Daily Bruin Sports held a Q&A with college tennis blogger Bobby Knight to discuss his thoughts on the bracket and predictions for the tournament. UCLA men’s tennis advances to NCAA Tournament round of 16

The streaks live on. UCLA men’s tennis has advanced to the NCAA Tournament round of 16 every year since the tournament expanded in 1996 and extended its winning streak to 17 after a pair of 4-0 wins over the Weber State Wildcats and University of San Diego Toreros. Read more...

Men’s tennis advances to Pac-12 final despite dropping doubles

Third time was still not the charm for Stanford. UCLA men’s tennis had lost the doubles point in each of its first two matches against Stanford this season, but the Bruins quickly stopped the bleeding each time by dominating in singles, winning eight points in total while only dropping two en route to 4-3 and 4-1 victories. Men’s tennis downs USC, secures Pac-12 regular-season title

Marks Tennis Stadium was filled with fans buzzing with anticipation as Martin Redlicki tossed the ball in the air. USC’s Nick Crystal had previously saved a match point against the sophomore, giving the Trojans a sliver of hope that they could overcome the Bruins’ 3-2 lead. Read more...
