After a challenging three days of competition at the Western Regional in Austin, Texas, only three individuals and the 4×100-meter relay team from the UCLA men’s track team will be extending their season at the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships.

After one day of competition at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas, several Bruins qualified for the next round in their respective events.

With an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, 23 male athletes will compete today through Saturday at the NCAA West Regional meet in Austin, Texas.

While coach Mike Maynard desired a top-three finish for his team this weekend at the Pac-10 Championships in Berkeley, the Bruins responded with a tie for fourth place and several solid individual performances.

At the Pac-10 Championships this weekend, which will be held at UC Berkeley, certain individuals on the UCLA men’s track team aim to capture needed points in their respective events, in an effort to vie for the conference team title.

As the postseason begins this weekend, sophomore Trent Perez looks to score points for the Bruins at the Pac-10 Multi-Event Championships at UC Berkeley while several Bruins will compete at the Oxy Invitational at Occidental College in Eagle Rock.

In addition to the usual competition on the track Saturday, there was another battle going on over the public address system.

With in-town bragging rights at stake, the Bruins are set to take on the No. 7 USC Trojans in the annual dual meet Saturday at Drake Stadium.
