UCPD searching for suspect involved in carjacking incident on campus

University police are searching for a man who carjacked an individual on the UCLA campus Monday afternoon.

The individual, who is not affiliated with UCLA, said he was waiting in his car when a man approached him with a handgun near the Center for Health Sciences building at about 4:35 p.m., according to a UCPD alert. The man held the individual in his own car for several hours before releasing him early Tuesday morning.

The individual described the man as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches and 200 pounds, with light skin, light brown hair and a mustache with a goatee. The man was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and shorts.

The individual reported no injuries. University police have not yet found the man and car.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.
