The Westwood Neighborhood Council meets monthly to discuss issues pertaining to Westwood Village and the surrounding areas.

The council requested further involvement in the decision-making process.

Discussion

  • Board members approved budget reports for the months of July, August and September. They have about $33,066 left in their budget.
  • The council unanimously voted to elect David Lorango to the council’s Renter Open Board Position.
  • The council elected fourth-year political science student and the undergraduate student government’s Facilities Commissioner Ian Cocroft to the Student Open Board Position by a 16-1 vote.

Motions

  • The council passed a motion to allow the Plaza la Reina hotel on Lindbrook Drive, which is still under construction, to obtain a conditional use permit to sell alcoholic beverages.
  • The council voted 17-1 to approve the transfer of $3,500 to the City Clerk’s office in order to establish and promote vote-by-mail procedures in Westwood for the 2016 election.
  • After much debate, the council voted 10-8 to table discussion about a transient occupancy tax on rentals for a future meeting.
