Junior defensive back Jalen Ortiz to transfer from UCLA

By camayak

May 27, 2015 3:17 p.m.

Junior defensive back Jalen Ortiz said via his Twitter account that he is transferring out of UCLA. The former three-star defensive back prospect has two years of collegiate playing eligibility remaining.

Ortiz made the transition from wide receiver to defensive back after the 2013 season, but his primary role on the UCLA football team over the past two seasons was on special teams. However, he did see extended playing time in the secondary during one game last season: UCLA’s 20-17 win over Texas. In that game, Ortiz made four of his five tackles during the 2014 season.

Ortiz did not comment on where he intends to transfer.
