After committing to UCLA men’s basketball Sunday morning following a campus visit, junior college transfer Ikenna Okwarabizie signed a National Letter of Intent with the Bruins Monday.

Okwarabizie will join UCLA as a sophomore after playing his freshman season at Tyler Junior College where he averaged 6.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

The a 6-foot-9, 250-pound center provides depth for the Bruins, especially after the loss of forward Kevon Looney to the NBA draft.

“Ike brings great size, strength and physicality to the table and will certainly help our play in the post,” said coach Steve Alford. “He comes from a very good program at Tyler Junior College and has been coached well. We needed to add depth to our interior, and we know that Ike will help us fill that need.”

Okwarabizie will enroll in summer classes at UCLA starting June.
