Former congressman Henry Waxman to teach at UCLA as regents’ professor

Feb. 25, 2015 2:38 p.m.

A longtime congressman who represented the district that includes Westwood for 40 years will teach at UCLA as a regents’ professor.

A regents’ professor, whose appointment is approved by the University of California Board of Regents, consults with students and faculty and leads seminars and lectures. The professor may teach one or more courses at the discretion of the department chair.

Henry Waxman, a UCLA alumnus, retired from Congress in January. Ted Lieu, a former state senator, took Waxman’s place as a representative of Westwood in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Waxman also announced in his email that he will join Waxman Strategies, a communications firm founded by his son, and will serve as an advisor and a lecturer at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
