University police are looking for a man who robbed a UCLA employee at a Westwood ATM on Thursday.

The employee told police a man approached him from behind at a Bank of America automated teller machine at 6:15 p.m. The man then told the employee to hand over money, adding that he had a gun, UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said.

The employee did not see a gun but gave the man $80, according to a UCPD crime alert. The man then ran away.

The man was described as black and 40 to 45 years old. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a black button-up windbreaker, blue jeans and brown loafers.

Police recommend that students and employees stay alert in Westwood at night and travel with a friend whenever possible.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the man can call UCPD at (310) 825-1491.
