UCLA track and field sets records at Mt. SAC Relays
Senior heptathlete Alexis Walker placed second in her first-ever heptathlon.

The UCLA track and field team showcased impressive performances at the illustrious Mt. SAC Relays this past weekend.
Senior heptathlete Alexis Walker was a pleasant surprise for the team as she placed second in her first heptathlon with 5,409 points. Her score ranks as the 10th best performance in UCLA track and field history.
“I didn’t know where I stood before the competition as I hadn’t competed in some of the events before, so getting second was shocking but exciting for me,” Walker said.
Redshirt senior thrower Julian Wruck continued his excellent season with another dominating performance placing first in the discus with a score of 211-7.
“I was pretty pleased with my performance this weekend especially since I’m training through the meets,” Wruck said. “I enjoy what I do and I’m not trying to go out there and beat people, rather I’m trying to improve myself the best I can.”
Wruck has the top mark in the country so far in the season.
In the high jump, junior jumper Zibby Boyer tied for second while freshman jumper Caroline Gyllenbern tied for fifth.
In the pole vault, junior pole vaulters Natasha Kolbo and Elena Clarke placed third and fourth, respectively.
Redshirt sophomore thrower Nicholas Scarvelis continued to perform well in the shot put as he placed second in his flight and fifth overall in the shot put final.
In the Men’s Olympic development 5000-meter run, redshirt senior distance runner Daniel Herrera placed first while fellow teammate sophomore runner Ferdinand Edman placed sixth.
Junior sprinter and long jumper Kylie Price and senior pole vaulter Mike Woepse were expected to perform, but ended up holding out for rest.
The Bruins had encouraging performances and will move on to the Triton Invitational in San Diego next weekend.
