At a speaking engagement late last month, University of California President Janet Napolitano expressed skepticism about the future of online education, saying, "If you do it right, it doesn't save all that much money," as the involvement of an instructor is still necessary. Do you agree with Napolitano's statements?
Yes, I think the cost-saving potential of online education is overblown.

While online education can drastically reduce costs, it depends on implementation and context, and may not necessarily do so for the UC.
