UCLA basketball earns No. 4 seed in NCAAs, will face Tulsa

Fresh off a 75-71 victory over No. 4 Arizona in the final of the Pac-12 tournament, UCLA earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament Sunday.
The Bruins (26-8) will open the NCAA Tournament with the No. 13 seed Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on Friday at Viejas Arena in San Diego.
Tulsa (21-12) earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Conference USA tournament, defeating Louisiana Tech 69-60 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday.
With a win, UCLA would play the winner of No. 5 seed Virginia Commonwealth and No. 12 seed Stephen F. Austin on March 23.
UCLA looks to redeem itself from a second-round exit from the 2013 NCAA Tournament, an 83-63 loss to No. 11 seed Minnesota in Austin, Texas. The Bruins have not won an NCAA Tournament game since defeating the Michigan State Spartans in the round of 64 in the 2010-2011 tournament.
Joining UCLA in the South bracket are No. 1 seed Florida and No. 8 seed Colorado. Also vying to represent the South bracket in the Final Four are No. 2 seed Kansas, No. 3 seed Syracuse, No. 6 seed Ohio State, No. 11 seed Dayton, No. 10 seed Stanford and No. 7 seed New Mexico.
Tulsa has won 11 games in a row dating back to Feb. 8, finishing in a tie for the best record in the C-USA at 13-3.
In the opening round of the 1993-1994 NCAA Tournament, the last time the two teams played in an NCAA Tournament game, the Golden Hurricanes defeated the Bruins 112-102. UCLA went on to win the NCAA Tournament the following season.
Arizona earned the No. 1 seed in the West Region, while Oregon was assigned the No. 7 seed in the West bracket and Arizona State was given the No. 10 seed in the Midwest bracket.
