UCLA baseball reveals Filia, Kramer and Williams injured

The baseball season does not start until the end of this week, but the Bruins will already be without several of their starting players.
It was revealed Monday that junior outfielder Eric Filia will miss the entire 2014 season due to labrum surgery.
He played a big role in the College World Series last year as he was the team’s top hitter in the postseason. In the finals versus Mississippi State, he went 4-for-6 and knocked in seven runs, including five in the clinching game, to help the Bruins win the national title.
Redshirt sophomore Christoph Bono will take over Filia’s right field duties for the Bruins.
Filia’s injury was not the only one the Bruins made public Monday.
Last year’s starting third baseman, junior Kevin Kramer, was slated to move over to shortstop this season, but will be relegated to designated hitter duties for the foreseeable future due to a shoulder injury.
Kramer started all 66 games at third base last season and was tied for the team lead in hits.
Senior infielder Kevin Williams will also be out until mid-March with an injury.
Williams missed the first half of last season with a shoulder injury and was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 29th round of the 2013 MLB Draft but did not sign.
