PULLMAN, Wash. “”mdash; UCLA scored just seven points in the second half, but kept Washington State at bay just long enough to hold on for a 44-36 Pac-12 conference road win.

The Bruins braved freezing temperatures and forced three turnovers on defense to keep the Cougars at arm’s length despite being outgained on offense by the last-place Cougars.

UCLA improved to 8-2, 5-2 in the conference.

Although Washington State (2-8, 0-7) outscored UCLA in the second half, the Bruins’ 30-point second quarter proved decisive enough to win the game.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Brett Hundley threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
