April 2, 2011 – This Saturday, UCLA is holding the 11th annual California A Capella Festival. Julia Ramos, a first-year Design | Media Arts student is a member of Random Voices. While the sopranos, altos, tenors and basses hold the pitch, it is Ramos’ role to keep the rhythm as the group’s beatboxer. With few young women beatboxers out there, Ramos voices her opinion on how being a beatboxer should not be defined by gender.

Long Story Short streams Mondays at 6 p.m. on UCLAradio.com. Listen to the whole episode here or visit our broadcast archive.
