Treat your sweetheart to a free Sprinkles cupcake by being one of the first 50 people to arrive at Kerckhoff Coffeehouse for Valentine’s Night hosted by the Cultural Affairs Commission.

The event, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the coffeehouse, will feature musical performances fit for all of the lovebirds out there.

From 7 to 8 p.m. UCLA Jazz vocalist Teira Church will open the show with a live performance of romantic tunes. The night’s main event, L.A.‘s soul and R&B artist Mateo, will take the stage from 8 to 9 p.m.

Mateo, who was the opener at UCLA’s JazzReggae Festival in 2009 and also performed at Rock the Vote this past October, has his first studio album coming out in the next month and will belt slow and smooth love songs for tonight’s audience.

“He loves UCLA,” said Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kinnery Shah. Shah described tonight’s show as a great opportunity to get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day as well as hear the music of an up-and-coming local artist.

“He sings really smooth R&B music ““ lovey-dovey type stuff that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day,” Shah said.
