Andre Agassi beats John McEnroe in the Farmers Classic exhibition Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center

By Daily Bruin Staff

July 25, 2010 11:25 p.m.

The 2010 Farmers Classic kicked off Saturday night with plenty of fireworks on Stadium Court ““ figuratively, not literally ““ as tennis legends John McEnroe and Andre Agassi faced off in an exhibition to benefit Agassi’s charity.

The match showcased the glory days of American tennis that have been long lost, but there might be some hope for the fans stateside. Scotland’s Andy Murray might headline the strong Farmers Classic field, but American Sam Querrey ““ back to defend his title at UCLA ““ has been making headlines all year with his play. One thing’s for sure: This year’s tennis will be sure to live up to the hype.
