The federal building on Wilshire Boulevard has been evacuated, according to news reports, causing parts of Veteran Avenue to be shut down while the Los Angeles Police Department and university police settle the problem.

An apartment building on Veteran Avenue has also been evacuated, and helicopters can be heard circling above the incident over Westwood Village.

According to KTLA reports, the evacuation was prompted after a standoff occurred in the federal building parking lot. A pursuit suspect led police on a freeway chase that originated in Westchester around 10 a.m., according to the reports.

University police were unable to give many details as to the reason for the evacuation, as many of the officers were at the scene of the crime, according to a university police dispatch officer.

Unspecified threats were allegedly made by the suspect against the White House, according to the Los Angeles Times, and no injuries have been reported.
