During the first week of class at UCLA, university police
reported crimes ranging from the theft of a blasting unit from the
School of Dentistry to the pilfering of four cars from various
points around campus.

Petty Theft

Sometime between noon and 1:30 p.m., Jan. 6, a wallet valued at
$150 was stolen from Room 31-253C in the Center for Health
Sciences.

Across campus at the Wooden Center, a gym bag that contained a
wallet and a pager was stolen by an unidentified suspect. Police
report that the $210 theft happened sometime between 3:00 p.m. and
5:00 p.m. on Dec. 27. In a second incident, equipment was stolen
from the Kerckhoff Coffeehouse. The equipment, valued at $70, was
taken sometime between noon and 3:00 p.m. last Wednesday, police
said.

Grand Theft

Anderson School officials reported the theft of a camcorder on
Jan. 6. The $700 camcorder was stolen from Room C-201E sometime
over winter break, police reported.

Dental equipment valued at $3,000 was reported stolen from the
UCLA School of Dentistry on Thursday Jan 9. A dental blasting unit
was stolen from Room 43-022 in the dental school over the break,
police reported.

In another incident just off campus, unidentified suspects stole
$3,500 worth of music CDs from an apartment at 515 Gayley. Police
report that the thieves sacked the apartment sometime between 6:00
p.m. Jan. 6 and 7:00 p.m. on the following day.

According to police reports, a set of golf clubs were stolen
from a parked car at 824 Hilgard sometime between Wednesday morning
and 7:00 p.m. Thursday last week.

Four vehicles were stolen from campus over the past week.

A white 1986 Nissan pickup was stolen from the sixth level of
Parking Structure 2 between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. last
Thursday.

Police also reported a red 1994 Jeep Wrangler as stolen from 631
Kelton between the evening of Jan. 9 and the morning of Jan. 10.
Police have no suspects in connection with either auto theft.
