Though its spring schedule is finishing up with a flurry, the
UCLA men’s golf team isn’t doing the same.

The Bruins hope to break out of the doldrums at the U.S.
Intercollegiate Tournament, their fourth event in four weeks, at
Palo Alto beginning Saturday.

With just one tournament, the Pacific 10 Championships,
remaining after this weekend, UCLA is running out of chances to
gather momentum entering the NCAA Regionals. Against a field
similar to the one last week at the Western Intercollegiate, the
Bruins would like to improve on an eighth-place finish tied
with Cal State Stanislaus.

The field at the renovated Stanford Golf Course this weekend
includes three teams in the top 25 USC, host school
Stanford, and Pepperdine. Meanwhile, in the latest polls, UCLA
dropped out of the top 50.

While UCLA has shown the ability to post low rounds, as they did
two weeks ago when three Bruins finished in the top 10
individually, and consistency throughout the lineup when five
Bruins were within five strokes of each other last week, they will
need to do both to place well at the U.S. Intercollegiate.

The 54-hole tournament, which tees off on Saturday afternoon,
will be spread over three days, culminating Monday morning.
