Westwood Gallery calls on public

Tired of the constant bewailing over the many ills of our world?
For those interested in adopting a more positive attitude, the T.
Heritage Art Gallery has an answer. The gallery is currently
holding an "Environmental Mural Exhibition" that invites the public
to paint their ideas about making positive changes in the world.
They are providing three-dimensional cubes on which children and
adults of all ages are welcome to depict any topic which they feel
answers global problems. The cubes are then combined to form a
magnificent work of art. The exhibit is running through April
30.
"It’s really for everybody," said Tim Heritage, the gallery
director. "It’s not like an art contest, I tell people. It’s really
just about expressing your ideas in whatever form that is … It
doesn’t matter if you’re really a good artist. The piece that you
do will be part of the whole picture … We’ve shown people that
they can do art."
Although many professional artists are helping create the mural,
no previous art experience is necessary. The gallery has had people
from ages 2 to 90 contribute thus far to the mural.
The project not only provides an opportunity to express creative
energy, but also to suggest positive gradual changes. Each painting
will promote discussion of world problems and enable people to work
together toward practical solutions.
