Gallery: UCLA emerges triumphant against Arizona State

UCLA football vanquished the Arizona State Sun Devils with a 25-18 victory on the road.

Junior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson practices on the Frank Kush Field at the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe before the game. Due to prior cancellations related to COVID-19, this was Arizona State’s first home game this season.

In accordance with Pac-12 and local guidelines, the players’ family members were allowed to spectate the game from the stands.

A referee hands the ball to freshman kicker RJ Lopez. UCLA won the coin toss and kicked off to start the game.

Redshirt junior defensive back Quentin Lake attempts to tackle Arizona State running back Chip Trayanum on the first drive of the game. Trayanum clocked a game-high 108 rushing yards over 15 carries.

Thompson-Robinson gets sacked by Arizona State defensive lineman Tyler Johnson, setting up a fourth-down punt on the subsequent play. Thompson-Robinson was on the field for the first time since Nov. 15, after COVID-19 contact tracing protocols required him to sit out the previous two games.

The Bruins’ defense tackles Arizona State wide receiver LV Bunkley-Shelton. In total, the Sun Devils put up 277 passing yards against the Bruins’ defense.

Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels is tackled by the Bruins defense. Daniels was held to just six rushing yards over 12 carries.

Redshirt senior running back Demetric Felton runs the ball down the middle. This was the first game of the season in which Felton did not start.

Thompson-Robinson throws the ball, avoiding a sack by Arizona State defensive lineman Jermayne Lole.

Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Kyle Philips is stopped by the Sun Devils’ defense after catching a pass from Thompson-Robinson.

Graduate running back Brittain Brown breaks free of the Sun Devils’ defense, clocking a 64-yard rush.

Thompson-Robinson leaps over Arizona State defensive back Evan Fields while in possession of the ball.

Thompson-Robinson runs the ball for a touchdown late in the second quarter. Thompson-Robinson clocked 49 rushing yards throughout the game.

Johnson sacks Thompson-Robinson once again. The Sun Devils sacked the Bruins for a total of 27 yards over 5 plays.

Thompson-Robinson commits intentional grounding in the end zone under pressure from Sun Devils’ defensive end Michael Matus, resulting in a 2-point safety for Arizona State.

Redshirt junior defensive back Jay Shaw runs the ball back after intercepting a pass from Daniels and is stopped by the Sun Devils’ offense.

Philips is pinned by the Sun Devils’ defense after receiving a pass from Thompson-Robinson. Philips clocked 53 yards over six carries.

Sun Devils tight end Curtis Hodges is attacked by the Bruins’ defense while in possession of the ball.

Daniels embraces Arizona State offensive lineman Kellen Diesch after a fourth-quarter touchdown gave the Sun Devils a one-point lead over the Bruins.

In the Bruins’ final scoring drive of the game with just over a minute left, Felton rushes the ball two yards for a touchdown, ending the Sun Devils’ short-lived lead.

Daniels unsuccessfully attempts to pass the ball downfield in the final drive of the game, sealing the Bruins’ last-minute lead.
