`The women's rugby team held their annual "Prom Dress Rugby" event Thursday.
The event was designed to bring attention to the club and encourage UCLA students to join.
The team said that they obtained the dresses by going to thrift stores or reusing dresses from previous games.
The event drew 20-30 players as well as a crowd of spectators, which was up from previous years.
In all, the club played for about 25 minutes in a match that drew some intensity, despite the attire.
The game also served as a unique bonding experience for the team in addition to increasing their exposure.
The club said that the event, held at the intramural fields, was designed to show that any person could play rugby.
