Dry times and thirsty L.A.’s reliance on outside water spell trouble
It’s time for Angelenos to take a much-needed reality check regarding the state of their current water supply.

More often than I would care to admit, I come across media coverage of an exceptionally salacious news story. Every person gasps with agony when I reveal that I have never read a single Harry Potter book nor watched an entire Star Wars movie without falling asleep. And this severe aversion to anything involving science fiction or fantasy has always led me to wonder: Am I an anomalous freak? The California Legislature plans to restrict the sale of salvia, a currently legal hallucinogenic drug, to people ages 18 and over. Sixty miles north of Los Angeles lies historic Tejon Ranch, a haven for wildlife spanning mountains, grasslands, deserts and woodlands. Tejon Ranch is one of few places that still provides a habitat for the endangered California Condor. This week UCLA students voted for Undergraduate Students Association Council members and The Green Initiative Fund. In Indiana and North Carolina, people made decisive votes for the Democratic presidential nominee. For most students, the sexual assault at Drake Stadium on April 24 was a little too close to home. I’m going to miss my train home ... again. Forget Clinton’s marginal victory in Indiana on Tuesday. Forget the implications it has for her campaign. Forget Obama’s 14-percent win in a state with nearly twice as many delegates as Indiana. As supporters of The Green Initiative Fund, we would like to address some statements made in the editorial published in Friday’s Daily Bruin, titled “Green initiative’s logistics are impractical” (May 2). Fair and free elections. Progressive lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights. Concern for the environment. Equal rights for women. These phrases describe only one country in the Middle East: Israel. “Carne Asada is not a crime.”The media needs to initiate a deeper dialogue
