May 24th, 2010 – During UCLA's 11th annual Bruin Run/Walk on Sunday morning, students, adults and children ran to raise money for Child Life/Development Services at the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. Violinist Ji Young An to perform a solo at conductorless UCLA Camarades Ensemble's first concert

April 22, 2010 – The UCLA Camarades Ensemble performs its inaugural concert at 8 p.m. tonight. This is the first time the UCLA Music Department will have a string orchestra without a conductor. Ji Young An will play on the school's legendary Stradivarius and is the soloist for the Mendelssohn Concerto in D minor. Listen to her speak about her transition from studying music in Paris to playing in California.

Bricks and Scones cafe in West Hollywood attracts UCLA students with relaxing atmosphere

Bricks and Scones on Larchmont is home to doggy bowls, a mini library, an entire study room, and, well, scones. Students get a 10 percent discount at this new cafe that attracts UCLA students despite being outside of Westwood. In addition to having the standard coffee shop fare, it’s the ambiance at Bricks and Scones that has students giving it a second look.

Choreography students to showcase dances meant to reach a wide audience

World Arts & Cultures Masters of Fine Arts graduate students will be showcasing elements such as beatboxing, film and Vietnamese music alongside their dance pieces at the MFA Choreography Showcase concert this Friday. Allison Wyper, one of the choreographers, shares details about the concert. This Works in Progress Concert, titled “Uncovered,” will be held at Glorya Kaufman Dance Theater at 8 p.m. Feb. 26.
