The UCLA women’s golf team’s season has come to an end after this past weekend’s NCAA championship, and looking back, it was a season of inconsistencies for the Bruins.
Despite a comeback on Sunday that led to a fourth round berth, UCLA women’s golf could not advance into the top-eight playoffs and ended its season finishing in 15th place at the NCAA championship.
One shot.
This will be the UCLA women’s golf team’s motto heading into the NCAA championship this upcoming weekend.
UCLA is currently No. 2 and will have to keep its poise by taking one shot at a time on the golf course – especially this year, when the rules have changed.
The younger players have been vital to the UCLA women’s golf team’s success this season.
UCLA is currently No. 2 in the country according to Golfweek magazine, and a large part of that has been because of the performance of the underclassmen – particularly that of freshmen Erin Choi and Lydia Choi.
Resilience has been the theme all year for UCLA women’s golf.
The Bruins struggled at the Pac-12 championship but bounced back this week, finishing second at the NCAA San Antonio Regional with an overall score of 19-under par.
Once again, the UCLA women’s golf team this season could not find a way to finish strong at this week’s Pac-12 championships.
The team was in third place after the third round, but after a well-played second round where they finished with a score of five over-par, the Bruins entered the final round tied for first.
The UCLA women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic this weekend.
The tournament’s first round began Friday with the traditional 18-hole stroke play.
Hailing from Stockport, England, sophomore Bronte Law has already made significant strides in the UCLA women’s golf program in just her second season.
Despite the possible difficulties of a cross-continental transition, Law has emerged as one of the team’s most reliable players in her current sophomore campaign.
