Man hospitalized after being struck with a rod

A man was hospitalized after an altercation with another man Saturday afternoon.

The first man hit the other man with a rod between 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. in front of Pauley Pavillion, a high school student who witnessed the fight said.

University police officer Jason Pak said the two men came onto campus to collect recyclable material and have had verbal arguments in the past. Neither men are affiliated with UCLA. Pak added UCPD would release the names of the men Sunday morning.

No further information was available. The case is still under investigation.
