Associated Students UCLA is a multimillion-dollar organization that provides student services and activities that the university does not fund. It oversees the Undergraduate Students Association Council, Graduate Students Association, Communications Board, campus services and enterprises. Board of Directors meetings are monthly and open to the public.

Executive reports

  • Executive Director Bob Williams said Ackerman Union’s new loading dock is nearing completion. He added construction for Bruin Custom Print and the pharmacy on the A-Level is underway.

  • Williams said he is looking at possible floor plans and meeting with architects to renovate the first floor of Ackerman Union.

Financial statements

  • Sales for computers and textbooks were low in August and September, Williams said. He added food has also had a slow start this school year.

Action items

  • The board approved an expenditure to buy new metal trash cans for Kerckhoff Hall and Ackerman Union. The trash cans will be similar to the metal ones UCLA uses around campus.

  • The board approved a $150,000 expenditure to update the association’s internal internet infrastructure.

  • The board approved an expenditure that would go toward renovating Ackerman Union to prevent leaks.
