President Barack Obama’s visit to cause road closures in Westwood

Several roads around Westwood will be closed Thursday night and Friday morning while President Barack Obama visits West Los Angeles, police said. He will stay in the W Hotel – West Beverly Hills on Hilgard Avenue, one block southeast of UCLA, for one night.

Obama is traveling to the area to attend Democratic fundraisers and tape an interview for “Ellen,” according to a White House statement. Police released a list of road closures and areas that could experience traffic delays during his visit.

  • Hilgard Avenue, between Weyburn and Le Conte avenues, will be closed for 12 hours from Thursday at 10 p.m. to Friday at 10 a.m.
  • Drivers should avoid Wilshire Boulevard between the 405 Freeway and Malcolm Avenue on Thursday from 8:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • They should also avoid Wilshire Boulevard between Westwood Village and the 405 Freeway on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
