A man suspected of using drugs on campus was arrested Friday after hitting a police officer in the Fowler Amphitheater near Janss Steps.

University police approached the man, 26, about 2:30 p.m. because they saw him and suspected he was doing drugs on campus, said UCPD spokesperson Nancy Greenstein. The man then hit a police officer after he declined to follow police instructions to stop.

The man is not affiliated with UCLA.

The man was released the next day after posting bail, according to Los Angeles Sheriff Department records.
