The Westwood Community Council meets several times a year to discuss issues relevant to the Westwood Village business and residential community.

  • Vincent Kane, senior adviser to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald, reviewed the master plan for the VA campus in West Los Angeles. The campus will be divided into four zones and provide housing, medical care and recreational services to veterans.
  • Brian Espin, a Los Angeles Police Department officer, said Westwood saw an increase in car burglaries around the neighborhood this month.
  • Jasmine Shamolian, Westwood field deputy for councilman Paul Koretz’s office, said the city plans to completely resurface the street on Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly Glen to Westwood boulevards. This will take two years.
  • Michael Metcalfe, chair of the Planning and Land Use Committee, said Ralphs’ second driveway exit onto Tiverton Avenue will be right-turn only and will cost about $100,000. The driveway is part of Ralphs’ $69 million investment to expand its store in Westwood.
  • Steve Sann, chair of the Westwood Community Council, said volunteers will meet at 10 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Westwood Presbyterian Church for the 2016 Homeless Count in Westwood.
