UCLA student brings energy to Afro-Cuban Batá drums

Third-year ethnomusicology student Melena Francis plays the Afro-Cuban Batá drums with rhythmic vibrancy. The festive and punchy drumming resonates through the Gamelan Room at UCLA’s Schoenberg Music Building.
