No Offense, But: Israel-Palestine

By Chris Campbell

The original version of the article stated Israel has asserted authority over Palestinian West Bank. In fact, Israel has asserted authority over West Bank.

Welcome to “No Offense, But,” the Daily Bruin’s official Opinion podcast.

In recent weeks there have been numerous violent incidents between Israelis and Palestinians as part of a new wave of protests calling for Palestinian independence from Israel. Israel continues to assert its authority over the West Bank territory, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that he does not envision a Palestinian state in the near future.

The two sides are currently caught in a stalemate. Palestine promises no peace until they have independence, and Israel will not offer independence until there is peace.

This week, Opinion columnists Aram Ghoogasian and Shani Shahmoon debate recent developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
