The Maxwell Football Club honored three UCLA football players Tuesday, naming rising junior linebacker Myles Jack and rising junior defensive lineman Kenny Clark to its Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, and placing rising redshirt junior running back Paul Perkins on the watch list for the Maxwell Award.

The Bednarik Award honors the best collegiate defensive player, while the Maxwell Award is given to the best collegiate football player in the United States.

Jack, who was also named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list Monday, plays both sides of the ball and started every game of the 2014 season, making second-team all-conference.

Clark also started all 13 games, tallying 58 tackles to earn second-team All-Pac-12 honors.

Perkins led the Pac-12 is rushing last season – the first UCLA player to do so since DeShaun Foster in 2001 – with his 1,575 yards ranking as the second-highest total by a Bruin running back.

Semifinalists for these awards will be announced on Nov. 2, with finalists named on Nov. 23. Winners are then announced on Dec. 10.

The UCLA football season opens Sept. 5 at home against Virginia.
