University police are searching for a man who attempted to grab a UCLA student’s buttocks outside De Neve Plaza Sunday evening.

The student was walking on the De Neve Plaza crosswalk about 4:30 p.m. when an unknown man tried to grab her, according to police logs. The man made no physical contact.

The man was described as white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 20 to 25 years old, according to a UCPD statement released Monday. He was wearing black jeans, a black shirt and a black cowboy hat, police said.

The student called UCPD about an hour later.

UCPD recommends that students have friends accompany them when they go out and be alert of their safety.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.
