UCLA softball’s Ally Carda named Pac-12 Player of the Year

The Pac-12 named UCLA softball’s senior pitcher Ally Carda its Player of the Year for the second-straight season Wednesday.

Carda’s award marks the 14th time a Bruin has been honored with the title and the fourth time a softball player has won Pac-12 Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons.

Carda also earned an honorable mention for the All-Defense team. Carda recorded 255 strikeouts in 187 2/3 innings while posting 13 complete games, eight shutouts and three saves.

On offense, Carda scored 52 runs on the season to go with 51 walks and 13 doubles.

In addition, Carda was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team, along with senior catcher Stephany LaRosa, junior outfielder Allexis Bennett and sophomore shortshop Delaney Spaulding
