Westwood Neighborhood Council recap – March 11

The Westwood Neighborhood Council meets monthly to discuss issues pertaining to Westwood Village and the surrounding areas.

Discussion

  • Several public commentators expressed their desire to pursue discussions about establishing bike lanes in Westwood Village.
  • The council pushed the discussion of a proposed fraternity project on Gayley Avenue to their April meeting.

Motions

  • The council passed several motions to grant $5,000 each to five programs in Westwood Village and surrounding areas, including the West Los Angeles Little League, Emerson Arts and Education Foundation, Friends of Westwood Library, Warner Avenue Elementary School and the Los Angeles Conservancy.
  • The council passed a motion to oppose the district’s decision to allow the district
    to establish Emerson Middle School as a co-location for City Charter High
    School.
  • Members passed a motion to request the city remove “no right turn on red” signs placed on the 405 freeway offramp to Sunset Boulevard.
