Women’s golf stumbles out of top 10 after day two of tournament

The women’s golf team has returned to action and is currently off to a poor start at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Estates.
After day one, the seventh-ranked Bruins were tied for ninth as they posted a team score of 13-over par.
Sophomore Bronte Law was the only player to record a score under even in the first round recording a 3-under par with five birdies.
The rest of the team did not fare better as senior Erynne Lee and freshman Lydia Choi shared the second-best scores on the team with 5-over par.
Things were not looking up in the second round as the team dropped out of the top-10 standings, and are currently in 12th place with a team score of +34.
Lee and freshman Erin Choi experienced the greatest disparities on the team as both scored 11-over par on the day compared to their single-digit scores from the previous day.
Lee, who is currently the team’s most decorated player, had a tough Monday outing particularly on the front nine where she recorded three bogeys, two double-bogeys and a triple-bogey.
Erin Choi also had an uncharacteristic day as she played a three-hole stretch from holes eight through 10 recording two triple-bogeys and one double-bogey.
Junior Louise Ridderstrom and senior Brittany Mai improved their scores by one stroke, but their efforts weren’t enough to keep the team in the top 10.
Law continued to play well as she scored 2-under par and remains under par for the tournament. She recorded three birdies to just one bogey.
In individual player rankings for the tournament, Law will head into the final day tied for first place with a score of -5.
Lydia Choi is tied for 47th, Mai is tied for 66th, Ridderstrom is ranked 74th, Lee is tied for 76th and Erin Choi is tied for 78th.
The women will look to rebound in the final round, and salvage what has been sub-par performance.
