University police released a sketch Wednesday of a man wanted for brandishing a handgun at a UCLA student on Landfair Avenue last week.

The UCLA student was walking south near Midvale Avenue just after midnight Friday when she approached a man pacing on the sidewalk. He lifted his shirt, revealing handgun tucked in his waistband, and shouted at the student.

Upon seeing the gun, the student screamed for help and ran away. The man was last seen running west toward Midvale Avenue, police said.

The man is described as Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 20 to 25 years old and about 6 feet tall with brown medium-length hair. He had a stocky build and facial stubble, police said.

He was last seen Friday wearing a white long-sleeved collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans and white basketball shoes.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the man can call UCPD at (310) 825-1491. Police are asking anyone who spots the man to call UCPD instead of attempting to approach or contact him.
