LGBT center’s Sundaes on Tuesdays directed at building community

This Tuesday marked the first Sundaes on Tuesdays social for the UCLA community this summer. Sundaes on Tuesdays is a weekly social event hosted by the UCLA LGBT Campus Resource Center every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During these socials, the public is invited to stop by the LGBT center to socialize and eat ice cream, fruit or vegan options. The program started a few years ago as a way for the center to provide a space for LGBT students and other community members to connect over the summer, when student organizations are not as active. Aside from just eating ice cream, the LGBT Campus Resource Center focuses these socials on helping students find a home at UCLA year-round, said third-year sociology student Kevin Contreras. Watch this video about the impact of the socials and the LGBT center on different students during the summer.
