UCLA Athletics plans to raise money to build a basketball practice facility, Athletic Director Dan Guerrero announced Thursday.

The facility, which will be located south of the Los Angeles Tennis Center, will include locker rooms, practice gyms and a training area for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The facility will be accessible 24 hours a day for members of the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

UCLA is trying to raise an estimated $30 to $40 million through private funds to build the facility, and the fundraising campaign will be part of UCLA’s $4.2 billion Centennial Campaign. There is not yet a set date for completion, but once certain thresholds for funding have been reached, construction will begin.

“Some of the most iconic names in all of basketball have taken the court for UCLA over the years,” Guerrero said. “We expect basketball’s next generation of great names to also trace their legacy back to Westwood. This new basketball practice facility will help ensure that our future is every bit as spectacular as our past.”

The new basketball facility will eventually be paired with the new football facility, which has already raised around $40 million in private funds since it was initially announced on Sept. 24.
