Two men attempted to steal a UCLA student’s wallet in the North Village early Sunday morning, according to a university policereport.

The student was walking westbound on Ophir Drive near Glenrock Avenue about 2 a.m. Sunday when a four-door sedan approached him, according to the report.

The 1990s sedan was either light silver or gold colored, with a driver and two passengers.

Two of the men got out of the car and told the student to give them his wallet. The student did not give them his wallet and ran southbound on Glenrock Avenue.

No injuries were reported during the attempted robbery.

All three men were described as black and were wearing light-colored T-shirts, according to the report.

Police described one of the men who got out of the sedan as about 20 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and skinny with afro-style hair and a hair pick. He was wearing a red zip-up hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and shiny or reflective gold or silver sneakers.

The second man was described as about 20 years old, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 with a large build and a short buzz-cut. He was wearing a white T-shirt.

The case is still under investigation.

UCPD recommends that individuals walk in groups at night and avoid walking with a cell phone in their hand. Police suggest students should tell robbers they intend to obey, and observe what the robber looks like and what they are wearing.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident or similar incidents can call UCPD at (310)-825-1491.
