Following a first-place finish at the Betsy Rawls Invitation two weeks ago, UCLA women’s golf continued its strong play this season by placing second at the Stanford Intercollegiate over the weekend.

After a slow start to the competition, finishing the first round 12 shots back and in seventh place, the Bruins shot into second place after the second round when their score of 248 (-16) set a school record for best single-round score.

UCLA maintained its position on the third and final day, finishing in second place, five shots behind USC, who won the tournament.

Several Bruins shined individually as well. Freshman Alison Lee, the nation’s top-ranked player, won the individual title, which she also won at the Betsy Rawls Invitational. Junior Erynne Lee and senior Ani Gulugian also placed well individually, finishing tied for seventh and tied for ninth respectively.

UCLA will next compete at the Pac-12 Preview, beginning next Monday, Nov. 4.
