This week, Bianca Broszus and Sidhaant Shah host Long Story Short. First, “The Monday Cafe with Meral Arik” explores the coffee and pastries offered at Mon Amour Cafe in Westwood. Then, third year English student Hero Carlisle reads an excerpt from his novel, “The Fisherman King”, which he wrote during summer session for his English 115D class, “Detective Fiction”. Afterwards, Jessie Vallejo, a doctoral student in ethnomusicology who just returned from Ecuador, shares her discovery of the Kichwa flute tradition and how she co-produced a CD to preserve the musical genre of the Kotama people.
