Shaky start for Bruins, enter halftime trailing Golden Bears 47-22

The UCLA men’s basketball team might have beaten Cal 79-65 in its last meeting at Pauley Pavilion in early January, but the Golden Bears quickly demonstrated the benefit of home court advantage, jumping to a 47-22 halftime lead at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley.

Freshman guard Shabazz Muhammad picked up two quick fouls in the contest, forcing him to sit for nearly nine minutes of the first half.

UCLA’s No. 1 scoring threat Muhammad headed into the contest making just one of his five shots for two points.

The Bears came out of the gate hot, shooting 58.8 percent from the field, led by junior guard Allen Crabbe, who had 15 points on the half.

Four different Cal players enter the second half in double figures. No Bruin has more than six points at the half.
