UCLA Anderson School of Management has received a $1 million donation pledge that will be used to match and encourage future contributions, according to a university statement released today.

Joel Fried, a founding member of the Laurence and Lori Fink Center for Finance & Investments Board at UCLA Anderson, and his wife Deanne Fried pledged $1 million to match every new or increased annual donation made through the Dean’s Society to the Anderson Fund. The money will be matched through the Deanne and Joel Fried Anderson Fund Challenge, according to the press release.

The Dean’s Society recognizes donors who make annual donations of $2,500 or more, and also students and new alumni who donate at least $1,000. It is a critical foundation of financial support for the graduate school.

The money will go toward a variety of programs, such as student fellowships and faculty recruitment and retention, according to the press release.

“DeeDee and I believe strongly in the mission of UCLA Anderson,” Fried, president of an investment management company, said in the statement. “We want to ensure that future Anderson students have the same opportunities to learn, grow and excel that I enjoyed during my time at the school.”
