University police arrested a second suspect in connection to a pair of armed robberies that occurred over the weekend.

Adrian Len Powell Jr., an 18-year-old Los Angeles resident, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing a student at gunpoint in Westwood, said Nancy Greenstein, a UCPD spokeswoman, in an emailed statement.

Early Saturday morning, two students were robbed at gunpoint ““ one at 400 Midvale Ave. and one near the Tom Bradley International Center at 417 Charles E. Young Drive.

One of the students memorized the license plate number of a car the men used to flee one of the robberies. Police arrested the owner of the car, 19-year-old Inglewood resident, Juwan Philip Thomas, at his home hours after the robberies were reported and recovered a cellphone that was stolen from one of the students.

Thomas was released on bail Tuesday morning and is set to appear in court on Dec. 24, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

UCPD detectives continue to investigate the incidences. Anyone with information about the robberies can contact UCPD at 310-825-1491.
